Visiting Cheltenham

Cheltenham is the single greatest example of regency architecture in the country and is home to stunning buildings such as the town hall, the Lloyds Bank Building with its impressive dome; Montpellier terrace and of course the most famous example, the Collonade and domed Pittville Pump Room. As well as the beautiful architecture, Cheltenham also boasts numerous attractions.


Sandford Parks Lido

If you have children, and the summer & sun is out, there is only one destination in Cheltenham worth going to. Completed in 1935 the Sandford Parks Lido operates every summer and is a glorious way for all family to enjoy the sun with a 50-metre heated pool, slides and a paddling pool for the little ones.


Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

Over by the Cheltenham racecourse – a 5 minute stroll from the Express hotel through stunning regency architecture – lies the racecourse station for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, a 20 mile round trip between Toddington and Cheltenham through the best scenery the Cotswolds has to offer. Special events are held throughout the year and are very popular.


Home of theatre

Cheltenham is home to three theatre’s; The Bacon Theatre, The Everyman and the Cheltenham Playhouse. They are very popular with tourists and locals alike and put on everything from ballet – English Contemporary Ballet – to engrossing theatre – War and Peace. All are within easy reach of the Express hotel.


Cheltenham's Parks

Cheltenham held the record for hottest place in England for many years. Its summers are consistently brilliant so if you're looking for that perfect tanning spot look no further than one of Cheltenham’s picturesque parks. You’re spoiled for choice with Pittville Park (home of the Pittville Pump Rooms), Sandford Park with its easy access to the Lido and who can forget the glamorous Montpellier and Imperial Gardens.


Near Cheltenham

Cheltenham has excellent road and rail links to all the major destinations. Bath is just under an hour by train, Birmingham New Street is 40 minutes away and London Paddington can be reached in a little under 2 hours. South Wales is also within easy reach with Cardiff only an hour by train. The hotel is perfectly situated on one of the main roads through Cheltenham with easy access to the M5.
